The sublethal doses effect on controlling of the nettle caterpillar Setothosea asigna (Lepidoptera: Limacodidae) on oil palm plantation

Abstract The nettle caterpillar, Setothosea asigna , is a major pest in an oil palm plantation North Sumatra, which causes severe defoliation and reduces productivity. Controlling this commonly uses Pyrethroids insecticides, but dimehypo was also used when controlling bagworms caterpillars the exact location. sublethal doses were reported to decrease mortality. study aimed determine effect of on mortality pupae acceleration . This five treatments using fogging technique, i.e., 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 ml/ha, untreated tested following completely randomized design (CRD) with replications. results showed that (50, 200 ml/ha) had low reached 58.33-62.50%, efficacy value 52.38-57.14% seven days after application. lethal dose (250 has 100% application, reaches 80.95% days. 150 ml/ha pupation three from treatment. founding could be reason for ’s overlapping populations prolonged outbreak.
